Patient Service Specialist - Medical Front Office

About the role

This is an entry-level position with hours that vary between Monday and Friday from 7 am to 7 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Process referrals and schedule patients
  • Complete intake process and data entry
  • Perform insurance verification, authorizations, and review of benefits with patients
  • Collect copays and patient responsibilities at each visit
  • Register patient information and ensure all forms are complete with signatures and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Verify patient insurance, obtain required authorizations before patient visits, and explain benefits, financial responsibilities, billing, and outpatient policies
  • Scan and maintain medical documents
  • Reconcile and post charges daily and other reporting to ensure clean claim processing
  • Respond to requests for information from patients, other departments, and physicians
  • Maintain office, order supplies, and manage mail
  • Adjust schedule to center needs and travel to non-home location centers or other sites for coverage when necessary
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred Experience

  • Customer service experience
  • Knowledge of insurance verification
  • Healthcare, medical, or dental office administration experience

Pay

Starting salary: $19 – $25 per hour based on experience; compensation also considers years of experience and internal equity.
