Responsibilities
- Answer phones and direct them to the appropriate doctors or staff members.
- Schedule and/or cancel appointments.
- Prepare charts for the following days by compiling appropriate electronic forms in charts, confirm patient appointments, and verify insurance benefits.
- Greet patients to check in and out for appointment.
- Review paperwork with patients and take copies of insurance cards.
- Enter demographic and insurance information in software.
- Collect co-pays, co-insurances, contact lens fitting fees, and any other payments due at the time of service.
- Post charges and payments in system.
- Scan and upload other paperwork as needed.
- Ensure waiting area and patient areas neat and tidy.
- Empty trash, vacuum, and wipe down surfaces to ensure a clean office.
- Order contacts lenses.
- Triage.
- Travel to other offices as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One year Customer/Patient Service Experience Required (optometry/ophthalmology experience a plus).
- Patient Scheduling a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, multi-task and proceed with objectives without supervision.
- Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.
- Basic bookkeeping skills.
- Detail-oriented.
