Patient Services Representative – Upstate Cardiology

Bon Secours seeks a Patient Services Representative to join their team. Serving as the first point of contact for patients and the community, this role involves processing registrations, scheduling appointments, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact between patients and physician practices
  • Answers internal and external calls in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Schedules patients for appointments
  • Transcribes orders and explains financial options to patients
  • Updates medical records accurately and efficiently
  • Corrects registration errors as needed
  • Records time indicators for lobby wait times
  • Calculates patient liabilities and processes payments
  • Reconciles cash drawer at the close of the day
  • Performs charge entry for external services
  • Affixes online scheduling and MyChart assistance
  • Aids in obtaining referrals and record referrals
  • Pulls patient charts, verifies RX benefits, and routes charts as needed
  • Assists in obtaining proper authorizations and pre-certifications
  • Completes accounts in revenue cycle software

Essential Functions

  • Greet patients and the community respectfully
  • Process admission paperwork and verify patient information
  • Manage patient flow and inform supervisor of any issues
  • Provide excellent customer service and handle occasional coverage of other locations

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior experience in patient registration or healthcare preferred
