About the Role

A Patient Scheduler II is responsible for pre-registering and scheduling moderately complex procedures and coordinating multiple resources for patient services. The purpose of this position is to schedule patient appointments for designated areas according to Tidelands Health protocols while providing courteous, professional, and efficient service to patients and providers. This role ensures accurate completion of the registration process, including collection of co-payments and patient demographic information.

Responsibilities

  • Assure patients have all necessary information so they arrive on time and prepared for their procedures, and ensure the hospital has all required information for proper billing.
  • Receive scheduling requests from physician offices and patients, then schedule procedures based on department availability.
  • Provide accurate scheduling information so all departments can view and print daily appointment schedules, and maintain open communication regarding schedule changes.
  • Perform various administrative support duties, including opening, sorting, and distributing mail and correspondence as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of related customer-facing experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Call center, patient scheduling, and/or physician front-office experience preferred.

  • Ability to interact successfully with the public and maintain composure under high stress or sudden deadlines.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, visitors, and clinical staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to use initiative, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic medical terminology preferred.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally exert up to 15 pounds of force and frequently up to 5 pounds of force to move objects. The role requires passing a Light Physical Agility Test (PAT).

Schedule

Day shift (8-hour shift).
