Patient Safety Attendant
About the Role
The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) participates in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients. In collaboration with the nursing team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The Sitter may also assist with basic activities of daily living. Our Patient Safety Attendants are passionate about ensuring an exceptional patient experience and committed to caring like family.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a direct line of sight with patient at all times, including while family and/or visitors are in the room.
- Accompany patients and ensure safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.
- Establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention.
- Perform room assessment regularly and after any visitations.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Basic Life Saving Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
- De-Escalation Training required within first 90 days of hire.

About the Facility
Belton Regional Medical Center is an 80+ bed acute care facility located in Belton, serving southern Jackson and northern Cass counties. We are one of 10 HCA Healthcare Midwest Health System hospitals in Kansas City, offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. Our hospital has undergone a $39.2 million renovation and expansion project over the past decade to meet the growing medical needs of our community.
