About the role

The Patient Representative will be responsible for performing registration tasks in various Medical Office Buildings at Memorial Health. Duties include conducting interviews with patients, gathering necessary information, and inputting data into the Hospital Information System.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients on the phone and in person to gather registration information.
• Inputs information into the HIS during the patient interview.
• Obtains and reviews insurance cards and patient identification.
• Identifies patient’s veteran status and documents it.
• Notifies pre-cert specialists for VA services.
• Verifies insurance plan eligibility and benefits.
• Completes medical necessity verification and ABN if needed.
• Correctly identifies patients using three primary identifiers.
• Notifies clinical departments of patient arrivals and delays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Personal computer/data entry experience preferred.
• Six months working in the healthcare environment preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
• Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
• Teambuilding skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• American Heart Association’s BLS certification within first sixty (60) days of employment.
• Behavioral Health De-escalation Training within six months of hire.
• Shift: 1st.
• Occasional weekend and holiday rotation.
• Hours: 80 per pay period.
