Patient Relations Coordinator (Coordinating Mgr - L B), Correctional Health Services

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the Patient Relations email in-box for all correspondences received and appropriately handle according to standardized procedures and policies.
  • Answer incoming calls, compose email identifying case as a complaint and/or request, draft and forward to appropriate clinical and operations personnel for review and action.
  • Act as a point person, directing incoming workflow, track open cases, and identify inquiries that need to be brought to conclusion.
  • Enter new cases and update cases into the Patient Relations database.
  • Prepare and conduct administrative staff trainings.
  • Review and address non-clinical complaints.
  • Interact with health care providers and administrators as well as communicate with patients, family members, attorneys, and advocacy groups.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; and one (1) year of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment;
  • orBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed in “1” above; and two(2)years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment;
  • orA satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience, in which each year of relevant training and/or experience can be substituted for 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university. However, all applicants must at least have a Bachelor’s degree or its educational equivalent.

  • Carefulness and thoroughness are key to success in this role.
  • Experience with medical records and/or strong understanding of medical terminology.
  • Excellent knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interest in healthcare and criminal justice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to learn new concepts and technology.
