About the Role

Performs all duties associated with the efficient registration of all patients accessing the facility.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Prior experience in medical field preferred.
  • Knowledge of admitting/registration process, receivables management, credit and collection laws, billing forms, medical billing regulations, insurance benefit calculations, HMO/PPO contracts, and third party funding resources.
  • Excellent customer service skills along with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • General knowledge of medical business office practices.
  • Basic clerical skills, including typing and filing.
  • Ability to communicate with the public, providers, nurses, and patients.
  • Proficiency with computers, electronic devices, telephones, and fax machines.
  • Ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential situations with tact.
  • Adaptability to dealing with the public, patients, and hospital staff beyond giving and receiving directions or instructions.

Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Extended periods of sitting and extensive data entry.
  • Occasional lifting of no more than 50 lbs., such as files, paper, and supplies.
  • Ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult or stressful situations.
  • Varied work hours and rotating shifts may be required.
  • Weekend and/or holiday rotation may be required.
  • Possible exposure to patients with infectious diseases.
