Job Summary
As a Patient Flow Manager, you will provide leadership and oversight for patient transportation and constant observation services within a hospital setting, including managing a team of Patient Flow Coordinators, Constant Observers, and Transporters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee patient transportation and constant observation services to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant patient coverage across the hospital
- Demonstrate and reinforce proper patient transport principles, infection control practices, and safe body mechanics to ensure staff competency and adherence to safety standards
- Develop, communicate, and oversee dispatcher logic, workflows, and transporter activities; actively monitor and supervise dispatcher performance to ensure timely and accurate patient movement
- Cookordinate patient transportation and observation services with nursing units and other departments to ensure seamless communication, workflow alignment, and service delivery
- Monitor daily staffing assignments for transporters and constant observers; adjust coverage as needed to ensure consistent compliance with established procedures and patient safety requirements
- Orient, train, coach, and develop team members across all levels, including Patient Flow Coordinators, dispatchers, transporters, and constant observers
- Conduct regular rounds across multiple shifts to verify proper patient observation practices and adherence to safety and regulatory protocols
- Foster strong partnerships with nursing leadership and supervisors to promote transparency, collaboration, and timely issue resolution
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards, including Federal, State, Joint Commission, OSHA, and CDC requirements
- Support the Unit Director in achieving financial objectives by operating within budget guidelines and assisting with cost control measures
- Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts and perform additional duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of management or supervisory experience, preferably within a hospital or related healthcare environment
- Strong patient care, customer service, and/or guest-relations experience, with the ability to apply these skills in a patient-focused environment
- Ability to review data, identify simple trends, and understand how they affect daily operations
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet

Qualifications
