Patient Financial Services Representative I (Remote)

About the role

Responsible for managing and resolving high volumes of accounts for services provided by Essentia Health. Acts as the primary contact or liaison for patients to discuss outstanding statements and resolve inquiries in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Manage and resolve high volumes of patient accounts
• Serve as primary contact/liaison for patients regarding outstanding statements and inquiries
• Provide support for insurance, coding, registration, financial assistance, and other billing-related issues
• Offer financial assistance via face-to-face communication and telephone using automated phone technology
• Perform routine account analysis to evaluate, develop, and implement action plans with patients
• Follow up with delinquent accounts and payment plans; collect patient accounts
• Conduct telephone contact or follow‑up on collections with letters
• Handle incoming patient mail and respond to inquiries via written communication
• Process cash payments and self‑pay collections
• Deliver exceptional customer service
• Utilize office equipment such as computers, software applications, printer, FAX, copier, and billing programs

Requirements

• Preferred experience in customer service, call center, and/or collections
• Experience handling cash payments and self‑pay collections
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Knowledge of office equipment (computers, software applications, printer, FAX, copier, billing programs)
• No specific education or certification required
