A Brief Overview
Responsible for the complete and accurate registration of all patients in an orderly, expeditious, and pleasant manner. Must have in-depth knowledge of insurance verification policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Promptly answers, screens, and processes insurance authorizations and telephone inquiries with strict adherence to confidentiality agreements policies and procedures.
- Provides patients information on Holy Name Medical Center patient programs, policies, and procedures.
- Collects and enters all patient insurance information into the appropriate medical service software to complete patient records. Includes validation of active insurance and ensuring all precertification documents are on file prior to patient receiving service.
- Documentation is to be concise, thorough, and accurate. Determines patient benefit coverage and notifies patients of any financial responsibility prior to service.
- Follows up on all self-insured and underinsured patients. Transitions patients to the Financial Counseling Department.
- Maintains Holy Name Medical Center benchmarks and/or quality indicators as monitored through audits or recordings.
- Supports organizational changes.
- Demonstrates professionalism and flexibility in providing coverage and/or availability for the Call Center via scheduling adjustments for unexpected absences, events, or call volume variances.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- 1-3 years Experience with Computerized Data Entry
- Must have hand-on experience working with Medical Health Insurance Companies (specifically authorization).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Good communication skills and telephone technique.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.

Pay Range
$18.00/hour - $24.00/hour

Pay
The starting salary for this position ranges from $18.00/hour to $24.00/hour, depending on various factors including employment status, skills, education, and experience.
