Patient Coordinator - PRN

About the role

The Patient Coordinator at Akumin Largo is responsible for providing excellent customer service and patient care. This is a PRN position that involves a variety of tasks including greeting and assisting patients, performing patient registration, answering phone calls, collecting payments, verifying insurance, and more.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Collects monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization.
• Preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
• Transports patients to/from the exam room and assists with patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• Provides preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Orders supplies and ensures the work area is properly stocked.
• Ensures accuracy of patient records and prepares medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
• Documents patient visits in various electronic systems and on written documents.
• Aids the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
• Works within HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire for Mobile Radiology and Oncology positions.
• Valid state driver's license required.
• Ability to work at several locations required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
• Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
