Patient Coordinator I-Pediatric
Responsibilities
- Greet patients either in person or via telephone, and update their insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
- Ensure that patients have appropriate insurance for the physician they are seeing.
- Verify insurance prior to patients' arrival or at minimum at time of arrival before visit.
- Communicate with appropriate staff regarding patients' arrival and ensure that their medical record is available for the physician.
- Process/update HIPAA-related paperwork and other institutional forms as necessary.
- Collect or retrieve referrals or insurance authorizations as required.
- Review status of waiting room on a routine basis and ensure that patients are kept advised of wait times.
- Ensure that patients have paid their co-pay or collect it under direction of the billing staff, providing the patient with a receipt following established cash-control processes.
- May schedule patients for follow-up appointments as needed.
- Provide patients with guidelines for requesting medical records, if necessary.
- May perform simple charge entry tasks or enter payments collected from patients and prepare Cashiers' deposit.
Qualifications
- High School graduate/GED.
- One year physician practice experience.
- Minimum of one week training on-site provided by the practice.
- Prior experience in a medical office setting, utilizing a computer system for physician scheduling.
- IDX or other practice management system experience preferred.

The Patient Coordinator I greets and establishes first contact with patients, or performs in a call center capacity. Duties include greeting patients, updating insurance/demographics, verifying insurance, communicating with staff, processing paperwork, collecting co-pays, scheduling appointments, and performing simple charge entry tasks.

Compensation
The salary range for the role is $17.2905 - $33.5863 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
