Patient Case Specialist-IHR - Registry

About the Role

Join UChicago Medicine, a world-class academic healthcare system, as a Patient Case Specialist in the Patient Access Services Department. This 100% onsite position requires you to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. The role focuses on a patient-centric, efficient healthcare delivery system emphasizing quality, safety, service, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough analysis of patient's financial data.
• Determine and meet requirements of third-party payors to secure reimbursement for inpatient services.
• Document all account activity to ensure proper billing.
• Capture complete and accurate patient demographic and insurance information for inpatient admissions.
• Determine patient's liability and discuss it with the patient to secure payment.
• Cross-train in all Admission Services functions.
• Perform other duties as requested by senior management.

Requirements

• A completed Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 or more years of relevant experience.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with a variety of internal and external customers with tact, discretion, and courtesy.
• Strong mathematical skills to calculate patient liability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a healthcare setting.

Pay

The pay range for this position reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered, based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and current market data. Compensation at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations such as internal equity.

Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
