Patient Care Technician (PCT) Inpatient
Job Summary
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The PCT provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The PCT records vital statistics and other basic health information, administers basic health care and medical treatments, provides assistance with basic daily living activities, prepares patient treatment areas, performs clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare, and performs other tasks as directed.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
- If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.
