Patient Care Technician (PCT)

Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Take patient history, obtain vital signs, perform phlebotomy, complete lab paperwork, schedule ancillary care, assist providers with exams and testing, maintain confidentiality, ensure equipment is in working order, log procedures, document patient history and exam findings.
• Reception: Greet patients, complete registration, explain insurance options, answer and triage phone calls, collect patient responsibility, print, scan, and fax reports, clean clinic.
• Occupational Medicine: Ensure accurate completion and timely scanning of occupational medicine documentation, complete DOT and non-DOT physicals, conduct drug screens, alcohol tests, hair collections, vision and audio testing, pulmonary function testing, audiograms.

Requirements

• Minimum 6+ months of experience as a Patient Care Technician or similar role; or equivalent education/certification in a related healthcare specialty.
• Preferred experience in Urgent Care, Occupational Medicine, and/or Phlebotomy.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with staff, patients, and families.
• Must have computer skills, including registering patients on the EMR, completing documentation, and using electronic medical records.
• Must have CPR certification and be able to complete and maintain other relevant certifications.
• Must have excellent listening and note-taking skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under conditions requiring accuracy.
• Must be friendly and customer service oriented.
• Must be capable of managing high call and patient volume.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred EMT Basic certification, Medical Assistant certification through one of the listed programs, and ability to complete and maintain relevant certifications.
