Responsibilities
- Patient & Visitor Interactions / Customer Service / Hourly Rounding: Answer patient call lights, answer phones, assist visitors, perform purposeful hourly rounding.
- Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Learn patient safe handling skills, assist in ambulation, assist in transferring, lifting, and repositioning patients using Safe Patient Handling equipment.
- Basic Nursing Care / ADLs: Provide basic care including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, feeding, use of bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, etc., under the supervision of a RN/LPN.
- Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Assist with room set up, welcoming of new patients, discharging and/or transfer of patients, provides patient/family orientation to room and hospital.
- Procedures and Treatments: Accurately complete and document patient care activities, perform point of care patient blood sugar testing, report patient problems to the appropriate team member.
- Care Companion / Sitter / Observer: Remain with a patient as a means to keep the patient safe.
- Department Specific Tasks: Support the nursing team by performing indirect patient care activities such as restocking equipment/linens, cleaning equipment, answering and relaying telephone calls, filing and maintaining records, retrieving and delivering supplies, specimens, instruments, test results, etc.
Requirements
- Minimum Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course preferred; completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
- Minimum Licensure Requirements: Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by either American Heart Association.
- Experience: No Experience Required.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions; demonstrates concern for and commitment to the welfare of our patient and families.
- Physical Demands: When in the clinical environment, must utilize appropriate patient movement equipment for patient-lifting and transfers when the transfer is a non-emergency situation. In an urgent event, may need to assist with lifting up to 50 pounds. When applicable, wear an N95 mask/PAPR and other PPE.
