Patient Care Technician | M18

About the role
As a Patient Care Technician in our Magnet-designated Nursing team, you will provide support to the inpatient nursing staff while ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients and their family members. This role is based in M18, a 36-bed inpatient oncology unit with a hybrid model that includes an open step-down unit caring for critically ill and post-operative patients. The unit supports mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and telemetry, with a fifteen-bed capacity designated for step-down care. Patient needs range from long-term vented patients to high-risk post-op and septic patients.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse and assist patients in a timely and efficient manner.
- Handle patient care situations with integrity, compassion, and professionalism.
- Take vital signs, perform EKGs, and collect specimens.
- Collaborate with the clinical team and provide assistance with procedures as needed.
- Use basic computer and data entry skills to support clinical documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of healthcare-related experience in one or more of the following roles: Nursing Assistant (NA), Patient Care Technician (PCT), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical Technician, Phlebotomist, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- If less than 2 years of experience: A Nursing Assistant or other healthcare-related certification obtained within the past 12 months, and at least 1 year of healthcare-related experience in one of the roles listed above.
- BLS certification required by time of hire.
- Epic EMR experience preferred.

Pay
$24.05 - $36.21 per hour (non-exempt under FLSA).
Schedule
Nights: Three 12-hour shifts (7pm-7:30am), Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays.
Location: 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY.
