About the role
The Patient Care Technician II assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patient and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include but are not limited to secretarial functions and NA II skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient care activities as directed by the nursing staff.
- Perform secretarial functions such as scheduling appointments, handling correspondence, and managing patient records.
- Provide support to the nursing staff in maintaining a smooth workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, physicians, staff, and others using proper channels of communication.
- Organize and maintain confidentiality of patient information and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in patient care and administrative tasks.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalency required.
- Nurses Aide I certification listed with Division of Facility Services and Nurses Aide II certification by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Some understanding of medical terminology.
- At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, either as a unit secretary or as a Nurses Aide I or Nurses Aide II is preferred.
- Current AHA BLS certification required.
Qualifications
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the nursing unit(s).
- Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
- Ability to identify patient needs and provide care based on assessment of patient status.
- Compliance with all healthcare policies and procedures.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Hours are typically 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
