Patient Care Technician II SNP

About the role

The Patient Care Technician II assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patient and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include but are not limited to secretarial functions and NA II skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care activities as directed by the nursing staff.
• Perform secretarial functions such as scheduling appointments, handling correspondence, and managing patient records.
• Provide support to the nursing staff in maintaining a smooth workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities.
• Communicate effectively with patients, their families, physicians, staff, and others using proper channels of communication.
• Organize and maintain confidentiality of patient information and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in patient care and administrative tasks.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalency required.
• Nurses Aide I certification listed with Division of Facility Services and Nurses Aide II certification by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Some understanding of medical terminology.
• At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, either as a unit secretary or as a Nurses Aide I or Nurses Aide II is preferred.
• Current AHA BLS certification required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the nursing unit(s).
• Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
• Ability to identify patient needs and provide care based on assessment of patient status.
• Compliance with all healthcare policies and procedures.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Hours are typically 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
