About the role
The Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PCT) will provide care for the patient receiving dialysis, before, during and after the dialysis treatment, under the direct supervision and delegation of the acute inpatient dialysis Registered Nurse (RN).
Responsibilities
- Provide care for the patient receiving dialysis, before, during and after the dialysis treatment, under the direct supervision and delegation of the acute inpatient dialysis Registered Nurse (RN).
- Provide direct and non-direct patient care, under their scope of practice, as deemed necessary by the acute inpatient dialysis RN.
- Provide quality assurance for machines and equipment in compliance with hospital policy and federal regulations.
Requirements
- Current hemodialysis technician certification
- Current Basic Life Support Card
- Must obtain LA City Fire Card within 6 months of employment
Qualifications
- Written and verbal communications, interpersonal skills.
- Basic organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control and safety practices.
- Clinical education related to specialty.
- Principles of patient/family teaching.
