About the Role
The Patient Care Tech (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family wellbeing, including concepts of relationship-based care.
This role may also be referred to as C.N.A (Certified Nursing Assistant) or M.A. (Medical Assistant).
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in completing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including:
- Bathing and showering
- Toileting, positioning, turning, and transferring
- Ambulation using assistive devices
- Feeding and menu selection
- Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures.
- Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters.
- Record patient information and required data to meet documentation requirements.
- Provide care for patients with conditions such as pulmonary disease, renal disease, diabetes mellitus (DM), chemical dependency, and multi-system organ diseases in a progressive care setting.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long-term care) or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
- Student nurses must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
Schedule
- Shifts available:
- 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Full-time and part-time positions available.
- Every other weekend and holiday work required per year for full-time and part-time team members.
