Overview

Sentara Urgent Care is now hiring a PRN Patient Care Specialist in Elizabeth City, NC! As a Patient Care Specialist with Sentara Healthcare, you will provide non-clinical support within a physician's office and ensure an excellent patient experience by performing a variety of complex administrative tasks to support patient care delivery. Primary duties include answering phones, scheduling appointments, and answering patient questions. Responsibilities

Answer phones
Schedule appointments
Answer patient questions
Provide non-clinical support within a physician's office to ensure an excellent patient experience by performing a variety of complex administrative tasks to support patient care delivery
Work as part of a team where everyone works together to ensure the best care for patients

Requirements

High School Diploma (required)
Associate level degree or higher may be considered in lieu of required experience
3 years of customer service experience (required)
1 year experience with health insurance plans, medical records data, medical terminology, registration, scheduling, or third‑party payers (required)

Pay

The base pay range for full‑time employment is $21.69 – $32.44 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra‑shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.

Schedule

Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Saturday – Sunday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. This position requires a flexible schedule, with rotating shifts based on operational needs.
