About the Role
Bayhealth Medical Center is Central and Southern Delaware’s healthcare leader with hospitals in Dover and Milford, as well as stand-alone Emergency Department in Smyrna and a hybrid Emergency Department and Urgent Care in Milton. We offer various practice settings throughout Kent and Sussex Counties. Our Kent Campus is 90 minutes from Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Baltimore. Our Sussex Campus is 30 minutes to the Delaware beaches.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, professional nursing care to a specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
- Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
- Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
- Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
- Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
- Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
- Demonstrate quality, safe, and effective patient care.
- Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
- Demonstrate standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
- Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans.
- Participate in decision-making and take actions based on ethical principles.
- Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
- All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Requirements
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse (RN) credential.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- NRP within 6 months of hire, if not already obtained.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months (PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe).
- Commit to seeking specialty certification within the timeframe as indicated during the interview.
- Acute care RN experience strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Certification related to the position, if applicable.
- Experience in relevant specialty, such as Labor & Delivery (L&D).

Pay
Salary range: $37.98 - $58.87 hourly.
Schedule
Status: Full Time (72 Hours). Shift: Nights / Variable.
Location: Kent Campus Hospital.
