About the Role

Bayhealth Medical Center is Central and Southern Delaware’s healthcare leader, with hospitals in Dover and Milford, stand-alone Emergency Departments, and various practice settings throughout Kent and Sussex Counties. The Kent Campus is 90 minutes from Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Baltimore, while the Sussex Campus is 30 minutes from the Delaware beaches.

Schedule

Full-time position with 72 hours per pay period. Shift: Day/Evening, 4 shifts per week (9-hour shifts from 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM). Additional considerations include cross-training with PACU, some call shifts, some weekends, and some nights (may work up to 10:00 PM).

Pay

Salary range: $37.98 per hour plus call incentive.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
  • Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
  • Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
  • Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
  • Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
  • Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
  • Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
  • Demonstrate quality, safe, and effective patient care.
  • Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
  • Demonstrate standards of excellence, including core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
  • Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans.
  • Participate in decision-making and take actions based on ethical principles (for RN evaluation).
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
  • Credential(s): Registered Nurse (RN) license, Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Experience: None required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Credential(s): Certification related to the position, if applicable.
  • Experience: Experience in relevant specialty.
