About the Role

This role facilitates patient admissions, ensures the needs of patients and staff are met, and acts as a liaison between staff and patients regarding scheduled visits. The position performs a variety of admitting, receptionist, and clerical duties to facilitate the efficient processing and scheduling of patients for the department and supports day-to-day business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Answers phone, takes messages, and directs calls to the appropriate person.
  • Admits patients into the clinic and processes encounter forms.
  • Verifies insurance and patient information in the computer, making appropriate updates.
  • Copies/scans insurance information for clinic registration and prepares charts with necessary forms.
  • Prepares and completes referrals for patients, obtaining authorizations and assisting with coordination.
  • Completes and forwards all required information, charts, records, documents, and/or films as requested.
  • Requests previous patient records from medical records as needed.
  • Maintains department records, reports, and statistics, including filing activities.
  • Orders and maintains an adequate inventory of office supplies and equipment.
  • Identifies current status of patient's insurance, benefits, and collects co-payments.
  • Provides appropriate forms to billing and other departments and assists with maintenance of hospital forms.
  • Performs confidential clerical duties, including data entry, obtaining patient signatures, and filing.
  • Schedules patient appointments and obtains necessary billing, insurance, and demographic information.
  • Informs patients of preparations needed for examinations and confirms appointments.
  • Digitizes films from prior studies and coordinates storage of films.
  • Receives payments from attorneys for copying films or creating CDs.
  • Assists in scheduling appointments and reservations for departmental needs such as classes and in-services.
  • Keeps waiting rooms neat, clean, and organized, and communicates with those waiting.
  • Monitors panels for alarms and reports to the appropriate department.
  • Provides coverage and assistance to maintain quality standards of the department.
  • Compiles information for reports, manuals, handouts, and meetings as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent (Preferred).
  • Associate’s/Technical Degree in business, healthcare, or computer science or equivalent combination of education/related experience (Preferred).

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $25.00 to $29.56 per hour. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.

Schedule

  • Full-time regular position.
  • Shift length: 8 hours.
