About the role

The Patient Care Coordinator supports the delivery of high-quality patient care within Meritus Health’s Diagnostic Imaging Services (DIS). In this role, you will assist patients, providers, and clinical staff by coordinating front-office workflows, managing patient information, supporting clinical operations, and ensuring a smooth, efficient experience throughout the imaging visit. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage confidential health information in a fast-paced outpatient environment. The ideal candidate is organized, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a medical setting with frequent interaction across clinical and administrative teams.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience
  • Coordinate patient flow, appointment needs, and communication with clinical staff
  • Obtain, verify, and document patient information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Support imaging workflows by preparing patients, answering questions, and directing them appropriately
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members using clear, professional language
  • Assist with general office duties, including scheduling, documentation, and record management
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology and imaging-related processes

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or Medical/Secretarial program preferred
  • One year of medical experience in a physician office, hospital, or similar healthcare setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology required
  • Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant (certified or non-certified) preferred

Skills

  • Knowledge of healthcare workflows, medical terminology, and outpatient operations
  • Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Strong communication skills with proper grammar and professional tone
  • Ability to manage confidential patient information responsibly
  • Customer-service mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
