About the role

A Patient Care Coordinator works cooperatively with all members of the care team and supports the vision of the Positive Patient Experience (PPE). This role involves answering phones, responding appropriately and routing calls as needed, handling patient requests regarding appointments or exams, reviewing referrals/orders for appropriateness, and managing scanning, creation, protocol, tasking, and scheduling.

Primary work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility to cover others on PTO.
Primary work location: 2300 West Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas, NV.

Responsibilities

• Greet all external and internal customers in a courteous manner
• Check in patients, collect insurance information and patient paperwork as needed
• Confirm patient eligibility and benefits
• Make, verify, and schedule appointments, including updating demographics
• Collect patient co-pays and co-insurance amounts due; reconcile daily collections
• Assist with incoming calls, logging into call queue
• Perform check-out duties including scheduling return visits, obtaining authorization for outpatient special procedures/appointments, and initiating referrals to outgoing specialists
• Access and utilize third-party portals for referrals, authorization, Prescription Monitoring Program, HIE, etc.
• Complete daily tasks and email communications
• Scan and attach patient medical records and documents
• Assist co-workers and team members with duties when requested or assigned, including floating to other areas

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• 2+ years of customer service experience
• 2+ years of experience in a healthcare environment setting
• 2+ years of experience utilizing process-related tools such as electronic referral and medical record systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of insurance programs and basic managed care principles, including a clear understanding of the referral process
• Understanding of diagnosis coding (ICD10) as it relates to referral requirements

Skills

• Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of Windows and non-Windows based applications, including Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Competent in the use of phone systems
• Proven ability to resolve patient issues and problems in a positive manner
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with physicians, patients, and other healthcare staff members
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Proven successful achievement of performance objectives
• Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize
• Good communication skills
• Consistent standard work compliance audits of 90% or higher for all assigned work

Pay

The hourly pay for this role will range from $18.00 to $32.00 per hour based on full-time employment.
