Summary of Responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service
- Relays medical questions from patients to the appropriate provider or resource via Epic in a professional, concise, and accurate manner
- Documents patient communication in the medical record
- Solves patient concerns or issues as they arise
- Escalates patient concerns or questions to the Practice Manager/Supervisor when appropriate
- Responds to Patient Gateway patient messages
- Processes in-baskets in Epic between team members and providers
- Enters orders into Epic
- Phones/Scheduling:
- Answers a high volume of patient phone calls requiring triage and scheduling clinic appointments with providers and for testing
- Reviews and assigns appropriate slots for appointment types (new, est, consult, post op, urgent etc.)
- Maintains lines of communication regarding templates concerns with the Practice Manager/Supervisor
- Makes outgoing rescheduling calls
- Works the waitlist regularly and follows up as needed
- Documents no show appointments and handles patient follow-up
- Schedules MRI, CT, labs, pathology
- General Practice Administrative tasks:
- Faxes - receives and handles incoming faxes
- Pathology - follows up on and documents pathology results after provider review
- Imports paperwork as needed for all tasks
- Processes incoming patient referrals
- Handles mail as needed
- Handles RX refills and PAs for RX refills for the specialty
Requirements
- At least one year of customer service and healthcare experience; at least three years for Patient Care Coordinator III
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience using electronic medical records, specifically Epic preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as attention to detail
- Advanced skill in multi-tasking and ability to prioritize functions based on business need
- Ability to work with difficult people in challenging, sometimes stressful situations
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
