Primary Responsibilities

  • Exhibits empathy, courtesy, competence, efficiency, and care
  • Schedules appointments and procedures, following standard guidelines
  • Uses multiple computer and phone systems to fulfill patient needs over the phone
  • Verifies patient information, while documenting in their Electronic Health Record (EPIC)
  • Advises patients of their responsibilities regarding insurance and referral information
  • Greet customers into the practice and provide instruction and/or direction as necessary on the phone
  • Schedule and coordinate all patient appointments as directed
  • Prepare all documentation and records with accuracy as directed or necessary for the patient's care
  • Maintain a team supportive attendance record
  • Obtain accurate and updated patient information, such as name, address, insurance information
  • Perform insurance verification on the date of service
  • Schedule appointments using approved scheduling guidelines
  • Aid coworkers as needed to assure smooth office operation and delivery of excellent service through teamwork
  • Participate in a team-based environment
  • Support the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of computer proficiency experience (multitasking through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • 1+ years of experience working in a medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays and balances due, and maintaining medical records
  • 1+ years of experience working knowledge of Epic EMR software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree of higher
  • Experience with outpatient surgical practice
  • Experience taking inbound and outbound calls

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others
