About the role
The Patient Care Coordinator ensures a positive patient experience by managing registration, appointment scheduling, and communication between patients and healthcare providers. They handle patient check-in, verify insurance, assist with billing, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. The role involves providing excellent customer service, supporting administrative tasks, and fostering effective patient-provider relationships.
Responsibilities
- Greet and register patients, collecting accurate personal and insurance details.
- Schedule and confirm appointments, coordinating with providers.
- Answer calls professionally and direct inquiries appropriately.
- Verify insurance coverage, assist with billing questions, and process payments.
- Maintain organized patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Complete pre-visit planning to ensure patient reminders and insurance verification.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; healthcare administration degree preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic health records, scheduling, and billing systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication, including telephone etiquette.
- Knowledge of medical insurance processes and patient billing.
- Experience in healthcare registration or front desk operations is advantageous.
