Patient Care Coordinators

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients, customers, and vendors, greeting them professionally and in a friendly manner.
  • Answer and respond to telephone inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Gather patients and insurance information.
  • Verify and enter patient demographics into EMR, ensuring all fields are complete.
  • Verify vision and medical insurance information and enter EMR.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of insurance plans and communicate insurance information to patients.
  • Pull schedules to ensure insurance eligibility prior to patient appointment and ensure files are complete.
  • Prepare insurance claims and run reports to ensure all charges are billed and filed.
  • Print and prepare forms for patients' visits.
  • Collect and document all charges, co-pays, and payments into EMR.
  • Alocate balances to insurance as needed.
  • Maintain a clean workspace.
  • Practice economy in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as needed and as assigned by manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to maintain patient and practice confidentiality.

Physical Demands

  • The ability to communicate and exchange information.
  • The ability to utilize equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • The ability to move about the office.
