Granger Medical Clinic has an immediate opening for a full-time Patient Benefit Advisor at our Taylorsville, UT headquarters as part of our Revenue Cycle team. In this critical role, you will serve as a vital bridge between patients, clinical staff, and insurance providers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring patient accounts, identifying billing trends, and ensuring revenue cycle processes support timely provider reimbursement.
  • Resolving patient inquiries via a high volume of incoming phone contacts and correspondence regarding a variety of billing issues.
  • Collects any outstanding balances/payments, updates all demographic and insurance information, and maintain accurate reporting.
  • Supports clinic receptionists as needed with patient scheduling, check-in processes, and PA system management.
  • Researching all inquiries to resolution using various sources, including contacting insurance companies and other outside contacts.
  • Alerting management of any recurring billing trends or systemic issues encountered through patient contacts, and actively participating in developing proactive solutions.
  • Interviewing patients and families facing financial hardships, initiating/completing financial assistance applications as appropriate.
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits utilizing available technologies, payer websites, or direct phone contact with third-party payers.
  • Processing and classifying bad debt for self-pay accounts and reviewing/resolving PCP and self-pay exception reports.
  • Verifying and obtaining insurance prior authorizations, counseling applicable areas of any out of pocket expenses.
  • Any other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Establishing and maintaining strong, professional working relationships with all internal and external contacts.
  • Exercising sound judgment and effectively managing patient expectations.
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and empathetic communication skills.
  • Capacity to work independently.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in healthcare, preferred as a patient service representative.
  • Experience navigating insurance prior authorization processes.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Sedentary work, requiring lifting up to 10lbs.
  • Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment.
  • Inside, climate-controlled working conditions.
