About the role
The Patient Attendant plays a vital role in supporting patient safety by providing continuous observation and maintaining a secure environment for assigned patients. This position is responsible for monitoring patient behavior, redirecting potentially unsafe actions when appropriate, and promptly notifying nursing staff when additional intervention is needed. The Patient Attendant helps prevent patient harm while promoting comfort, dignity, and positive patient experiences through attentive observation and compassionate interaction.
Responsibilities
- Safety: Never leave the patient unattended. Help prevent falls, self-harm, and removal of medical equipment. Do not physically restrain patients.
- Sight: Maintain continuous visual observation, including during restroom use and other activities.
- Say: Communicate respectfully, provide appropriate engagement, and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Summon: Immediately notify nursing staff of safety concerns, behavior changes, or when additional assistance is needed.
Qualifications
- Required: High School Diploma or GED.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and observation skills
- Ability to remain alert and focused
- Commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
Additional Information
Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
