Job Summary

The Patient Advocate position is a versatile role that can involve various duties within the clinic. Your primary responsibility is to support the patient experience, representing Solvera Health's vision, mission, and values at all times.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors in a welcoming and friendly manner in person and on the telephone.
  • Answers basic informational inquiries and refers questions to other staff members as necessary.
  • Communicates effectively by telephone or in person.
  • Schedules appointments for all providers and services to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and resource use.
  • Maintains accurate records by researching insurance information when necessary and entering it correctly in databases.
  • Verifies patient demographic and insurance information at every visit and collects co-pays when applicable.
  • Assists with general customer service tasks, including assisting ill or distraught patients, to ensure they are treated with hospitality and dignity.
  • Collaborates with family members or Solvera Shuttle Drivers for transportation needs.
  • Provides patients with billing and payment information and answers questions regarding insurance eligibility.
  • Scans necessary documents and billing information, such as insurance cards, and ensures they load properly to the EMR.
  • Participates in the medical office emergency routine when required, which may include summoning the ambulance or EMS and assisting clinical staff members as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to maintain a professional and hospitable demeanor, treating patients, caregivers, and colleagues with compassion and patience, including interacting with and assisting ill, older, or distraught patients.
  • Experience in a clerical setting including office skills such as typing, filing, and Windows-based computer programs and data entry.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain strong attention to detail.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One year experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
