The Role

The Patient Administrative Specialist (PAS) is responsible for handling new patient coordination, surgery scheduling, and other front office functions in the outpatient clinical setting. The position also supports administrative tasks related to the daily operations of the clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients during registration and check-out processes.
  • Verify insurance information and address patient inquiries regarding appointments, authorization, payments, and schedules.
  • Manage and track incoming referrals and schedule appointments for patients.
  • Handle a significant volume of inbound and outbound patient calls, efficiently taking and routing messages, and managing patient correspondence.
  • Manage faxes, mail, file documentation, and maintain databases.
  • Utilize phone and electronic medical records systems to process forms.
  • Communicate with PAS staff, medical center/clinic staff, physicians, and patients.
  • Support providers by communicating scheduling preferences and urgent needs.
  • Strong proficiency in one of the following specialized functions: medication prior authorization, specialized data collection & coordination, cross-training to support multiple providers, services, and/or departments, surgery/procedure scheduling, new patient coordination.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • At least one (1) year of related healthcare experience (including external experience).

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Windows-based office software, computers, and operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong written and phone/verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with complex or multi-line phone systems.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and manage multiple priorities.

Pay

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $32.56 - $36.66 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Schedule

Full-time, Day shift (08:00 - 16:00)
