Description
- Maintains equipment and supply levels through inventory control.
- Performs high level disinfection on identified respiratory equipment.
- Captures scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance on all respiratory care equipment, coordinating with the Biomedical Engineering department as needed.
- Provides relief for office personnel as needed.
Core Competencies
- Performs all the duties of the respiratory therapy aide.
- Maintains an organized departmental inventory control system compatible with the level of equipment utilization.
- Maintains documentation for requisition of supplies and back orders for reconciliation of related billings.
- Maintains compressed gas records and inventory control system as it relates to the needs of the hospital.
- Maintains inventory control of hospital crash carts as it relates to pulmonary equipment.
- Cleans and reassembles adult, pediatric, and neonatal intubation trays/crash carts.
- Understands role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only.
- Captures preventative maintenance, electrical safety, repairs, and rental control of pulmonary equipment.
- Interacts with the various other departments as to their needs relating to the utilization of pulmonary equipment.
- Orients, trains, and competency assesses new staff and students when requested to do so.
- Observes and follows all hospital and department infection control guidelines during all procedures.
- Performs high level disinfection on bronchscopes.
- Stocks respiratory supplies in all nursing units within the hospital.
- Cleans, assembles and tests adult and neonatal ventilators.
- Monitors the availability of equipment and order rental equipment if indicated.
- Keeps accurate records of all equipment rentals.
