About the Role
Responsible for all DME supply room inventory par levels hospital-wide; collects broken equipment, performs basic inspections of DME per standards set by the AAMC Biomedical Department, and ensures DME is clean, functional, and safe for patient use.
Responsibilities
- Helps maintain the VERSUS RFID tracking system by managing RFID tags, batteries, and software device information.
- Uses the VERSUS RFID tracking system daily and has privileges in the Mednet system to track devices and run reports.
- Receives DME needs communication via EPIC CLINCON (primarily) and phone (secondarily).
- Performs physical and virtual rounds to collect broken equipment, return it to the central DME storage area for Biomed pickup, and replace it with spares to minimize clinical downtime.
- Performs minor repair/replacement tasks and enters Biomed work orders as needed.
- Manages DME supply room inventory par levels hospital-wide and in the central equipment storage location.
- Performs basic inspections of DME per AAMC Biomedical Department standards, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and safety.
- Collects and reports DME data, including cleaning, repair, and staff cleaning compliance statistics.
- Maintains records of maintenance, inventory, and safety inspection activities per departmental policies.
- Educates staff on basic DME functions.
- Participates in large-volume equipment projects (e.g., IV pump exchanges), including unpacking, inspecting, asset tagging, inventorying, and delivering/exchanging equipment.
- Adheres to MOSHA, equipment, and manufacturer safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Disposes of hazardous waste in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Enrollment in an accredited Bioengineering program or medical terminology experience.
- One year of experience in a hospital setting.
Physical Demands
- Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens is expected.
