About the role

The Biomedical Equipment Technology Specialist provides technical guidance and mentoring for other employees in the department, coordinates special projects, and performs specialized technical tasks. This role maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan and the Biomedical Technology Services Program. It also involves a variety of tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex biomedical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct repairs according to procedures.
• Maintain inventory and par levels of all instruments and supplies.
• Follow OSHA and TJC guidelines.
• May oversee staff in the absence of a supervisor.
• Assist with orientation and training of new employees.
• Participate in on-call rotation and occasional weekend or shift rotations as work demands.

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment. An equivalent combination of education and experience or military training may be substituted.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a closely related field (preferred).
• Proficient in all skills required for a BMET I and BMET II (preferred).

Physical Requirements

• Lifting 20-50 lbs and 50-100 lbs.
• Prolonged standing, sitting, frequent bending, walking, climbing (steps, ladders), and overhead reaching.
• Repetitive motion.

Pay

Compensation Range: $19.87 - $51.17 per hour. Actual salary offers will be based on relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.

Schedule

Days. On-call rotation and occasional weekend or shift rotations as work demands.
