Patient Account Registrar
About the role
The Patient Account Registrar at Sherman Oaks Hospital is responsible for interviewing patients or their representatives to obtain necessary demographic information, securing insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations, and working closely with all aspects of the Admitting department.
Responsibilities
- Interviews patients or their representatives to obtain patient demographics.
- Secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable.
- Works closely with all facets of the Admitting department, including PBX operator function and reception areas.
- Operates a computer to input and retrieve data.
- Communicates with the population served using age-specific techniques from neonatal to geriatrics.
- Maintains proficiency in medical terminology.
- Performs special projects or other assignments within specified timeframes.
Requirements
- Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet required timelines.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Customer service experience required.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED Equivalent (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires).
Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in medical terminology.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Benefits
Competitive compensation with a reasonable estimate of $25.91 to $25.91 per hour. Exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of selection, considering factors such as skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
Pay
$25.91 to $25.91 per hour.
