About the Opportunity

The Patient Access Specialist II plays a key role in managing appointment scheduling and patient access operations. This position is responsible for handling incoming requests, coordinating with healthcare providers and patients, and ensuring that scheduling aligns with clinical and insurance requirements. The role contributes to effective patient flow and supports clinical staff by providing accurate and timely information.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and professionally to appointment requests via calls, emails, and electronic messages.
  • Schedule medical exams, procedures, and tests according to provider protocols and insurance requirements.
  • Manage appointment reschedules, cancellations, waitlists, and reminder communications.
  • Document and communicate clinical and escalation messages to appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Provide information on accepted insurances, office hours, services, locations, exam fees, and doctor details.
  • Record referral information accurately to facilitate verification and follow-up.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Entry-level computer and data entry skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years customer service or healthcare-related experience; healthcare setting experience preferred.
  • Strong phone etiquette and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle complex customer interactions and resolve issues independently.
  • Empathy, professionalism, patience, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with multiple computer systems and ability to learn new workflows.
  • Knowledge of medical scheduling, registration, insurance verification, or prior authorization.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting new team members is a plus.
  • Candidates must reside in Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, or Texas.

Pay

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Eligibility for the upper end depends on factors including geographic location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
