Responsibilities
- Obtain accurate demographic and financial information during registrations.
- Correctly select and describe insurance codes using tools like the Rolodex in SMS, Matrixes for contracted medical groups, and the internet.
- Complete all status transfers and ensure correct room placement for patients.
- Run and accept HDX reports on all applicable insurances.
- Obtain and ensure necessary notifications, authorizations, verification of benefits, and tracking numbers for all accounts/insurances.
Requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact diplomatically.
- Good problem-solving and process efficiency skills.
- Knowledge of insurance benefits, covered services, and collection procedures.
- General knowledge of office procedures and ability to utilize resources in an organized manner.
- Type 35-40 words per minute.
- Knowledge of computer keyboard.
Qualifications
- One-year experience in a hospital admitting or medical business office, with computer experience preferred.
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- CPI Certification within the first 90 days.
