Responsibilities

  • Obtain accurate demographic and financial information during registrations.
  • Correctly select and describe insurance codes using tools like the Rolodex in SMS, Matrixes for contracted medical groups, and the internet.
  • Complete all status transfers and ensure correct room placement for patients.
  • Run and accept HDX reports on all applicable insurances.
  • Obtain and ensure necessary notifications, authorizations, verification of benefits, and tracking numbers for all accounts/insurances.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact diplomatically.
  • Good problem-solving and process efficiency skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance benefits, covered services, and collection procedures.
  • General knowledge of office procedures and ability to utilize resources in an organized manner.
  • Type 35-40 words per minute.
  • Knowledge of computer keyboard.

Qualifications

  • One-year experience in a hospital admitting or medical business office, with computer experience preferred.
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • CPI Certification within the first 90 days.
