Patient Access Representative - Vascular Surgery

Job Summary

Affords assistance in coordinating activities between scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-certification. Serves as a clinical liaison with physician practices, engaging in pre-visit services.

Pre-registers/Registers Patients

  • Accurately captures patient demographic and financial data
  • Registers patients using various methods, including mobile carts

Verifies Insurance Coverage

  • Ensures all insurance requirements are met
  • Obtains prior authorizations and referrals as necessary

Responds to Customer Inquiries

  • Addresses patient concerns and questions
  • Provides assistance as needed

Manages Daily Appointment Schedules

  • Reminds patients of appointments via phone calls
  • Contacts referrals for scheduled appointments

Other Duties

  • May transport patients using escort or wheeled transport equipment
  • Assists with departmental coverage as needed

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • At least 1 year of medical office or related customer service experience, required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding, preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance processes and regulations, preferred
  • Ability to manage conflicts effectively and professionally, required
  • Excellent time management skills, with an emphasis on meeting time-sensitive deadlines, required
  • Good customer service skills and interpersonal skills, required

Department / Location Specific Notes

Care Delivery and Outpatient Clinics: A strong background in customer service may be considered in lieu of medical office or related experience.

Working Conditions

  • Operates computer and other office equipment
  • Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
