Job Summary

Affirms to assist in coordinating activities between scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-certification. Acts as a clinical liaison with physician practices, interacting with pre-visit services.

Pre-registers/Registers Patients

  • Accurately registers patients with patient demographic and financial data.
  • May register patients using various methods, including mobile carts.

Collects Patient Balances

  • Collects patient balances, co-payment, co-insurance, or other payment types.

Verifies Coverage and Ensures Requirements Met

  • Verifies coverage and ensures all insurance requirements are met.
  • Obtains all prior authorization and/or referrals as appropriate before patient arrival.

Responds to Customer Inquiries

  • Responds to customer inquiries.

Assists with Departmental Coverage

  • Aids in departmental coverage as needed.

Manages Daily Appointment Schedules

  • Manages daily appointment schedules, including reminder calls and calling all referrals.

Transports Patients

  • Moves patients using escort or wheeled transport equipment.

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma preferred, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical office or related customer service experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding (preferred).
  • Knowledge of insurance process and regulations (preferred).
  • Ability to manage conflict effectively and professionally (required).
  • Excellent time management skills, with an emphasis on meeting time-sensitive deadlines (required).
  • Good customer service skills and interpersonal skills (required).

Working Conditions

  • Operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work.
  • Primarily operates in an office environment.
  • Communicates and exchanges accurate information.
  • Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, view a computer terminal, and read.
