About the role
We're looking for someone who can greet patients and guests, handle check-ins, and manage the registration process. You'll also help collect payments and ensure smooth patient interactions.
Responsibilities
- Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
- Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information.
- Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
- Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
- Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
- Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy and communicating effectively.
- Other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, or similar role.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to role.
- Clerical skills and current knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits, referral and authorization processes, and billing regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to solve practical problems under high stress.
- Excellent decision-making skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in handling/escalating difficult situations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, or similar customer service-related environment.
- Preferred certifications: CHAM, CHAA, Medical Assistant certification.
