Patient Access Representative | Pediatrics | 40hrs/week

About the role

Join our Sanford Patient Access Family and help create a welcoming, safe environment for patients—whether on the phone or in the clinic. As the first point of contact, you’ll provide extraordinary customer service and ensure a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Registration
  • Greet patients and verify demographics
  • Create, scan, and route documents or electronic forms
  • Explain documents and capture required signatures
  • Establish and assign financial responsibility; assist with payment arrangements per policy
  • Collect co-payments, pre-payments, and account balances
  • Resolve registration errors and denied insurance claims via the registration work queue
• Scheduling
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments with nursing team and providers to meet patient needs
  • Obtain and coordinate referrals; conduct pre-authorization
  • Arrange interpreter services
  • Check patients in and out
  • Operate multi-line phone system; resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists
  • Serve as switchboard operator, calling codes and paging providers
• Additional Duties
  • Prepare and coordinate charts
  • Organize supporting provider documents
  • Initiate and collaborate on patient financial assistance
  • Track patient visits and health information on accounts
  • Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
  • Coordinate Telemed appointments
  • Make reminder calls for appointments
  • Handle hospital admissions
  • Perform office duties: copying, faxing

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred); post-secondary education helpful
• One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
• Medical terminology knowledge helpful; strong customer service skills essential
• Six months’ customer service experience desired
• BLS certification may be required for certain locations/settings

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• No weekend or recognized holiday shifts

Pay

Salary range: $16.25 – $23.00 per hour
