About the role

Join our Sanford Patient Access team and help create a positive patient experience by providing a welcoming and safe environment for anyone who walks into our facility. This is a fast-paced role focused on delivering high-quality patient care in surgical admissions, with additional duties supporting other departments, patients, and their families.

Schedule

  • Full time, 40 hours per week
  • Shift: 4:30 AM – 12:00 PM (start time may vary due to surgery schedules)
  • Monday – Friday with occasional Saturday shifts

Pay

Salary range: $16.25 – $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Registration

  • Greet patients and verify demographics
  • Create, scan, and route documents or electronic forms
  • Inform patients about documents and capture necessary signatures
  • Establish and assign financial responsibility while adhering to policies and procedures
  • Collect co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances
  • Work through the registration work queue to resolve errors or denied insurance claims

Scheduling

  • Coordinate and schedule appointments with nursing team and providers
  • Obtain and coordinate referrals and conduct pre-authorization
  • Arrange interpreter services
  • Check patients in and out
  • Operate multi-line phone system
  • Resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, and serve as switchboard operator
  • Call codes and page providers

Additional Duties

  • Prepare and coordinate charts
  • Organize supporting provider documents
  • Initiate and collaborate on patient financial assistance
  • Track patient visits and health information management on patient accounts
  • Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
  • Coordinate Telemed appointments
  • Make reminder calls for appointments
  • Handle hospital admissions
  • Perform office duties such as making copies or sending faxes

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post-secondary education helpful
  • One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
  • Medical terminology knowledge helpful
  • Essential customer service skills
  • Six months of customer service experience desired
  • BLS certification may be required for certain locations/settings
  • Outgoing, able to multitask, detail-oriented, with exceptional customer service skills
