Patient Access Representative - Nephrology
Job Summary
Affirms the role's purpose within PeaceHealth, emphasizing coordination between scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-certification.
Pre-registers/Registers Patients
- Accurately collects patient demographic and financial data
- Verifies coverage and ensures all insurance requirements are met
- Obtains prior authorization and/or referrals as necessary
- Manages daily appointment schedules
- May transport patients using escort or wheeled transport equipment
Responds to Customer Inquiries
Handles customer inquiries and assists with departmental coverage as needed.
Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding (preferred)
- Knowledge of insurance process and regulations (preferred)
- Effective conflict management skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Good customer service skills and interpersonal skills
Department / Location Specific Notes
For Care Delivery Area and Outpatient Clinics positions, a strong background in customer service may be considered in lieu of medical office or related experience.

- Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
