About the Role
This position handles registration, scheduling, order entry, and reception across various admitting sites, facilitating healthcare access and ensuring accurate data collection from patients, families, and providers.
Responsibilities
- Gather and verify demographic, clinical, insurance, and financial information.
- Ensure insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and determine patient financial obligations.
- Accurately enter charges and documentation, explain forms, and collect signatures.
- Assist in scheduling and departmental tasks, supporting smooth admission processes.
- Identify patient financial needs, referring to assistance programs when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and accreditation standards.
- Resolve registration issues following established guidelines, escalating problems as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred; minimum six months of related experience.
- Strong communication, diplomacy, and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare insurance, billing, and governmental programs.
- Proficiency in computer applications, order entry, and multitasking in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to adapt to different sites and handle stressful situations professionally.
