About the role
The Patient Access Representative/Scheduler at Keck Medicine of USC's LV Tropicana Family Medical Center plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth patient flow and providing exceptional customer service. This position is essential for managing patient check-ins, scheduling appointments, and handling various administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Acts as the main point of contact for patients and families, greeting and checking in patients at the front desk.
- Schedules appointments, confirms patient availability, and ensures accuracy of appointment details.
- Supports center operations by handling phone calls, directing calls to other departments, and providing necessary information.
- Ensures patient charts are prepared and vital signs are recorded accurately.
- Assists physicians with minor clinical procedures and prepares patients for examinations.
- Prepares and administers adult and pediatric immunizations according to provider’s orders.
- Maintains a safe and compliant environment, ensuring patient privacy and adherence to infection control policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate Program.
- 0-1 year experience in an office or ambulatory clinic setting as a Front Office Medical Assistant.
- Knowledgeable in medical terminology, able to interview patients, and interact with physicians, nurses, and other professionals.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and various computer programs like Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in both English and Spanish.
- Comfortable with computers and medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years experience in an office or ambulatory clinic setting as a Front Office Medical Assistant.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City).
