About the role

The Patient Access Representative/Scheduler at Keck Medicine of USC's LV Tropicana Family Medical Center plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth patient flow and providing exceptional customer service. This position is essential for managing patient check-ins, scheduling appointments, and handling various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the main point of contact for patients and families, greeting and checking in patients at the front desk.
  • Schedules appointments, confirms patient availability, and ensures accuracy of appointment details.
  • Supports center operations by handling phone calls, directing calls to other departments, and providing necessary information.
  • Ensures patient charts are prepared and vital signs are recorded accurately.
  • Assists physicians with minor clinical procedures and prepares patients for examinations.
  • Prepares and administers adult and pediatric immunizations according to provider’s orders.
  • Maintains a safe and compliant environment, ensuring patient privacy and adherence to infection control policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate Program.
  • 0-1 year experience in an office or ambulatory clinic setting as a Front Office Medical Assistant.
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology, able to interview patients, and interact with physicians, nurses, and other professionals.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and various computer programs like Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in both English and Spanish.
  • Comfortable with computers and medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years experience in an office or ambulatory clinic setting as a Front Office Medical Assistant.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City).
