Medical Assistant - LV Trop. Family Med Cl - Full Time 10 Hour Rotating Shift (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

About the Role

This position involves assisting physicians with patient care, performing clinical and clerical duties, and ensuring a smooth patient flow in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain and record vital signs and medication lists.
• Monitor patient flow and assist physicians with minor clinical procedures, including performing EKGs.
• Prepare patient charts with pertinent medical information, including x-rays and lab work.
• Schedule diagnostic tests as ordered by the physician.
• Perform various office and clerical duties, such as maintaining files, records, and inventory of supplies.
• Ensure patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality.
• Maintain a safe and compliant environment according to standards, policies, and infection control regulations.
• Set up exam rooms, assist with exams, and ensure rooms are stocked, organized, cleaned, and disinfected.
• Obtain blood samples by venipuncture or capillary methods.
• Receive, screen, process, distribute, or package specimens according to established guidelines.
• Implement physician orders for medications and treatments.
• Provide coverage for co-workers and communicate patient status.
• Record patient information in charts or EHR according to Joint Commission standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in an acute care setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with word processing, GECB, COR, Cerner, ProSolv, and scheduling software.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already certified (required within LA City only).
• Current Medical Laboratory Personnel License – NV. Must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already certified.

Pay

The hourly rate range for this position is $22.00 – $34.18. When extending an offer of employment, factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations are taken into account.
